Master Bond Polymer System UV10LC-12 is a recently developed one component high performance polymer system which can be readily cured by exposure to either visible or UV light. UV10LC-12 can be used as an adhesive, sealant, coating or casting material. This product offers excellent physical strength properties, superb toughness, outstanding abrasion resistance and excellent thermal cycling capabilities. In addition, it has passed Class VI testing requirements. However, the end user is strongly advised to conduct any additional testing that may be required for specific end product applications. UV10LC-12 is particularly useful in the dental industry in the manufacturing, repair and restoration of dental crowns. In this regard, it has excellent adhesion to acetals and acrylics. It is 100% reactive and does not contain solvents or other volatiles. Master Bond UV10LC-12 bonds very well to similar and dissimilar substrates including metals, glass, ceramics, selected rubbers and various plastics such as polycarbonates, acrylics, acetals and ABS. Master Bond UV10LC-12 possesses excellent thermal and electrical insulation properties. The cured polymer composition has excellent long term resistance to water, saline solutions, and medical and dental type serilants. This system also offers superb dimensional stability and very low shrinkage upon cure. The service temperature range is -80°F to +250°F. UV10LC-12 is a “dual cure” system. It can be readily cured with commercially available visible light curing system, such as currently used by the medical and dental industries with optimum curing taking place at wavelengths between 430-460nm. It can also be cured by exposure to UV light sources emitting as little as 30-40 milliwatts/cm² of energy at wavelengths of 320-365nm. The UV10LC-12 will fully cure at ambient temperatures within very short times depending upon the thickness of the layer being cured, the light intensity and distance of the light source from the material. Cure times range from a few seconds to less than a minute or two. These cures are not air inhibited even when relatively low intensity light sources are used. The performance properties of the cured UV10LC-12 polymer compound are identical whether or not visible or UV light curing lamps are employed. The ability of UV10LC-12 to be cured by exposure to either visible or UV light sources greatly enhances the potential range of applications for this unique product.
